Spunbond vs Meltblown Which is Better?

As we know spunbond polypropylene has many excellent properties, and the meltblown is the best filter fabric for face mask, which is better spunbond or meltblown? This article i want to share something about the difference between spunbond and meltblown.

spunbond vs meltblown

The key difference between the spunbonded process and melt-blowing is in the die assembly. In the melt-blown process hot air converges with the fiber as it emerges from the die, whereas in the spunbond process the hot air flow is at a cross flow to the emerging fiber.

Spunbond polypropylene has 2 excellent properties – Strength and Durability. Meltblown has relatively weak tensile properties but due to the smaller fibers and larger surface area taken up by the fibers, it has excellent wicking and barrier properties.

Although meltblown materials offer better filtration compared to spunbond materials, meltblown materials are typically less durable and have lower melting points so are less suitable for re-use in fabric masks.
